Buying art online is easy. Here's how it works...
Bidding
FISHERSONLINEART.COM is a virtual auction house, where auctions are conducted by buyers and sellers online, in real time. Only registered users may buy and sell art. Register now >>
You will be asked for your contact details during registration. Your personal details will be kept confidential. The only exception is in our Affordable Art auction category (reserve < $3,000) where the buyer's and seller's contact details will be exchanged in order for the parties to arrange delivery of the artowrk.
Before you are able to place a bid you will be asked to accept our Terms & Conditions. Simply, you will be bound by contract to any bid you make online. At the close of the auction the highest bid may be accepted by the seller within 3 days of the close of the auction - even if it has not met the reserve.
All bids are placed by real people. However, our system maintains the confidentiality of each bidder by allocating a bidding identity eg Bidder 1, Bidder 2, and so on. Your bid will be shown in the bidding history for an artwork in bright red - so you know which bidder you are.
Placing a Maxium Bid
In the event that you are unable to be online regularly during the course of the auction, you can enter a "maximum bid". Put simply, you specify your maximum bid amount, and the online auction system will try to secure the work for the lowest price possible up to this amount. Once the bidding has surpassed your maximum bid you will be notified, via email, that you have been outbid.
Ask the Seller a Question
During the auction for a lot, registered users may ask the seller a question about the artwork. This feature is for legimate questions about the artwork, and must not be used to circumvent the online auction process in anyway. Questions asked will automatically appear online as soon as they have been asked. However, the identity of the person asking the question will remain confidential.

Payment
If you have placed the highest bid at the close of the auction, FISHERSONLINEART.COM will send you an email confirming that you have won the artwork and the total purchase price. Payment is required within 48 hours of the close of the auction.

Buyer’s Premium
The successful bid will be subject to our buyer's premium of 12% + GST on the hammer price. For example, a successful bid of $1,000 will have a buyer's premium of $125 added to which the GST payable is $15.63 - resulting in a final invoice total of $1,140.63. A $NZ25 bank fee will be charged on all overseas bank transfers.
Purchase Price
In our Affordable Art auction category the total purchase price is normally made up of:
- hammer price
- seller’s premium
In our Fine Art and Feature Auction auction categories the total purchase price is normally made up:
- hammer price
- buyer’s premium
- insurance (optional)
- freight
Our total cost calculator provides the bidder with an estimation of the total purchase price before the bid is placed. We also have currency convertors which allow buyers outside of New Zealand to convert the total purchase price.
Packaging, Insurance, and Freight
Artworks consigned to FISHERSONLINEART.COM remain in the possession of the seller until sold.
For artworks sold in the Affordable Art category, the contact details of the buyer and seller will be exchanged after payment has been made so that packaging, freight, and insurance of the artwork may be arranged between the parties. A normal scenario would be for the seller to pack the artwork and organise freight, and for the buyer to pay for the cost of freight direct to the seller.
For artworks sold in the Fine Art and Feature Auction auction categories, FISHERSONLINEART.COM arranges for the delivery of the artwork to the buyer - in order to maintain buyer/seller confidentiality.

Right of Return
If upon the receipt of the artwork the buyer finds the artwork to be a "deliberate forgery" the buyer may return the artwork to FISHERSONLINEART.COM within 14 days of receipt, in order to exercise his or her contractual right of return, pursuant to the Internet Terms & Conditions.
If the artwork is found to have obvious "physical imperfections" that were not disclosed by the seller or were not obvious in a careful viewing of enlarged images of the artwork the buyer may return the artwork to FISHERSONLINEART.COM within 48 hours of receipt in order to exercise his or her contractual right of return, pursuant to the Internet Terms & Conditions.
If the buyer has arranged for FISHERSONLINEART.COM to hold the work on behalf of the buyer, time of receipt is deemed to run from the time that FISHERSONLINEART.COM receives the work. In all cases, the buyer's right of return expires upon payment of the net sales proceeds to the seller.
