Packaging & Freight
Packaging and freight requirements differ depending on the auction category that an artwork is listed in.
Fine Art and Feature Auctions
For artworks sold in our Fine Art and Feature Art auction categories, FISHERSONLINEART.COM will notify the seller payment of the total purchase price has been made. It is then the seller's responsibility to package the artwork and deliver it to the Fishers Fine Arts gallery to closest to him or her as soon as possible.
The seller must pack the artwork safely and securely in accordance with our packaging guidelines (set out below). The seller remains liable for any damage that may occur to the artwork during transit, so it is important to ensure that the artwork remains covered by the seller's insurance policy.
Unless you, as the seller, are completely confident in your ability to securely package the artwork, we recommend that you purchase a custom made picpac box to ensure for the safe delivery of the artwork. Alternatively, we recommend that you seek the assistance of a reputable art gallery in your area.
Once the artwork has been delivered to Fishers Fine Arts, FISHERSONLINEART.COM will forward the artwork to the buyer, thereby maintaining the confidentiality of the buyer and seller. Delivery of the artwork from Fishers Fine Arts to the buyer's delivery address is at the cost of the buyer and is included in the total purchase price of the artwork.
Insurance covering the storage of the artwork at Fishers Fine Arts (in transit to the buyer), and the delivery of the artwork from Fishers Fine Arts to the buyer's delivery address is optional and may be arranged via FISHERSONLINEART.COM on the "confirm bid" form when placing a bid on an artwork.
From the moment the artwork is delivered to Fishers Fine Arts by (or on behalf of) the seller, it is no longer covered by the seller’s insurance policy. It is therefore in the buyer’s interest to ensure adequate insurance is obtained to cover this period.
We strongly recommend that the buyer arranges for the artwork to be included in their insurance policy from time of receipt of the artwork.
Affordable Art
For artworks sold in the Affordable Art auction category, packaging, delivery, and freight of the artwork is arranged between the buyer and seller. Once the buyer has made payment, FISHERSONLINEART.COM will exchange the contact details of each party so that these arrangements can be made. A normal scenario would be for the seller to package the artwork (see our packaging guidelines below) and arrange for delivery, and for the buyer to pay the cost of delivery direct to the seller.
Either party may purchase a custom build picpac box to ensure for the safe delivery of the artwork. If a picpac box is not purchased the artwork must be packaged according to our packing guidelines below. This option is not recommended unless you are extremely confident of your ability to securely package the artwork to the standard set out below.
Packaging Guidelines
- If the artwork is under glass, adhere several pieces of tape to the glass surface in the shape of an astrix. This will protect the original artwork if the glass is broken in transit.
- Wrap the work in at least two layers of bubble wrap, entirely covering the surface and corners of the artwork.
- Package extra bubble wrap or cardboard around each corner of the frame, or fragile areas of the artwork or sculpture.
- Wrap the entire package in two layers of corrugated or flat cardboard. Tape securely.
Insurance
Insurance is optional, but strongly recommended.
We strongly recommend that buyer’s also arrange for the artwork to be included in their insurance policy from time of receipt of the artwork.
